Options Menu

Select View -> Options from the main menu to bring up the settings window.

Language

Use this section to choose the interface language. You must restart the program after changing this option.

Connections

Use the Maximum simultaneous connections option to limit the number of links being checked simultaneously. You can limit the number of links the program checks within 1 second by selecting the corresponding value from the drop-down menu.

HTTP

In this section you can change the Browser identification and Referrer values the program uses while checking the HTTP links.

Note: Some websites can block access for clients with unrecognized Browser identification and Referrer values.

FTP

The settings in this section specify the parameters the program will use to connect to FTP servers.

Use the Email address for FTP Anonymous User field to specify the email address that will be used to connect to FTP servers as an anonymous user.

SMTP

You will need the settings in this section if you plan to email the reports (Email Sending) or check the 'mailto' links (Email Checking).

Use the Mail agent identification option to set the X-mailer header in the message that contains your report. This header usually contains the name of the sender's email program.

Email Sending

Use the Email Sending section to specify the parameters of email messages containing reports created by the program. Use the Server and Port fields to specify the address and port number of the SMTP server used for sending emails. You can view these parameters in your email client.

If the SMTP server requires authorization, enter your username and password in the corresponding fields.

Addresses

In the Addresses section you must specify the sender's and recipient's email addresses. Enter the name and email address that will be used to sign the report in the Sender field. Enter the name and email address of the person the reports will be sent to in the Recipient field. To check the new settings, save them by clicking OK, then open this section again and send the test report by clicking the Send button.

Email Checking

The Email checking section contains optional settings for checking the 'mailto' links.

Proxy

Use the HTTP Proxy servers section to specify settings of the proxy server used to access websites via HTTP. Enter the address and port number of the proxy server in the corresponding fields. If your proxy requires authorization, mark the Logon Required option and enter the username and password in the corresponding fields.

Use the FTP Proxy section to specify settings of the proxy server used to check the FTP links. If you access FTP resources via a proxy, mark the FTP Proxy item and specify the settings listed below. Enter the address and port number of the proxy server in the corresponding fields. Use the FTP Proxy Type field to select the type of your proxy. If your proxy requires authorization, mark the Logon Required option and enter the username and password in the corresponding fields.

Use the Socks Proxy section to specify the parameters needed for the program to work via the SOCKS proxy server. The application can work via a SOCKS proxy using all valid protocols. If you can access the resources you need to check through a SOCKS server only, follow the steps below.
1) Mark the SOCKS Proxy item and enter in the corresponding fields the address of the SOCKS server and its port number.
2) Select the type of your proxy from the SOCKS-Proxy Type list and mark the required options in the Use SOCKS Proxy with HTTP (FTP, SMTP) connections group.
3) If your SOCKS proxy requires authorization, mark the Logon Required option and enter the username and password in the corresponding fields.

Use the Exceptions section to specify the mask for the links that must be checked without using the proxy.

Monitor Clipboard

Use the Monitor Clipboard section to specify the time interval at which the program will check the clipboard for new links. If the program detects an URL in the clipboard, it is added to the list of links to be checked. The time period (in seconds) is specified in the Check after interval field.

Link List

The settings in the Link List section influence the behaviour of the program in the Link List mode only. Enable the Allow list additions for duplicate URLs option if you want to add identical links in the list. Otherwise (e.g. when you export the list) the duplicate links will be ignored. If the New link auto verification option is on, the program will automatically verify all links added in the list.

Bookmarks

In the Bookmarks section you can specify the paths to the files/folders containing Mozilla Firefox and Opera bookmarks. After specifying the paths you can export all links from Mozilla Firefox and Opera with a single mouse click: File -> Bookmarks.

Website Verification

The settings in the Website Verification section only influence the behavior of the program in the Website Verification mode.

The options in the Recheck section allow to improve the check quality when a high number of network or network protocol errors are likely to occur. E.g. you may sometimes wish to recheck the links that return the 'Timeout' error or some types of socket errors.

Use the File Groups section to customize the File Groups filter. Each group of files has a name and a list of file extensions that belong to it. The groups have hierarchical structure, so you can create nested groups. The default settings contain all necessary file groups and extensions, but you can modify them if you need. The File Groups column contains the names of the groups, while the Filename extensions column contains the file extensions that belong to the corresponding groups (separated by spaces).

The Broken Links Groups section lets you customize groups of the Broken links filter. The Name column contains the names of the groups, while the Mask column contains masks of the errors included in each group. For a broken link to be included in one of the broken link groups, the group's mask must coincide with the broken link error description. For example, the *404* mask includes all links that contain '404' in their descriptions.

Default Profile

This section allows you to specify the settings used for creating new profiles.

You can either create your own profile or use the default one, DefaultProfile.wlvs, located in the Save folder. To modify the default settings, open the profile, edit the settings you want to alter, and save the profile. From now on, the new settings will be used for creating new profiles.

You can also specify the path to the default profile in the command line arguments using the '-defaultprofile=' key. Just remember that the default profile specified in the command line has a higher priority than the default profile specified through the menu Options -> Website Verification -> Default Profile.

Note: Starting URLs load from a default profile also; therefore, it is recommended that you create a default profile instead of just using other existing profiles.

For instance, if you want the Exclude external links option to be selected for all the profiles that will be created -- create a new profile, change the option as needed, and save the profile as, for instance, 'dp.wlvs'. Then open the Options -> Website Verification -> Default Profile menu and select path to this profile.

External Applications

The External Applications section contains the path to the HTML Editor that will be launched when you select the Edit -> Open Using HTML Editor command.

Note: HTML Editor will only be started for the local links beginning with file:/// (e.g. file:///C:/Folder/index.htm).

Redirects

The Redirects section lets you identify broken links that do not return valid error codes and redirect to custom error description pages or other websites.

The Mask filed contains the URL mask of the target website (the one to which redirect is made).
